Laid Up

Home sick today with virus that kids just got over. Sleeping, reading, sucking on ice pops, not a bad way to spend the day (aside from the annoying aspects of having a stomache bug). Been reading Jane Austen and the Gnostic Bible. Picked up bible because I wanted to read about women who are not in the bible proper for poetry project. Very interesting story about a woman name Thecla who got tied to the stake and thrown before lions and bears for not getting married, was protected by a lioness, baptized herself and went on to preach the word of god. Small part of me hoping I'll find god someplace in the book as well. Head aches some, kids are home from school and outside playing for an hour before homework. Need more ice pops and to lay down...........

HEAVEN is what I cannot reach!
The apple on the tree,
Provided it do hopeless hang,
That “heaven” is, to me.

The color on the cruising cloud, 5
The interdicted ground
Behind the hill, the house behind,—
There Paradise is found!

Emily Dickinson

It sounds like you could use a Mint Julep! I was thinking about hand delivering the boy's electronic device this weekend, but it sounds like there are germs floating around your head. Get well soon!

Thank you LC and Jr. I am better this morning and will be slogging into Blunder and Blunder where the body count continues. In the last two weeks in my immediate work area: My attorney Linda, Francesca the attorney, and my buddies Tyra and Rod the English boy from York. Everyone is leaving the "dark place," the English boy gave two weeks notice and was immediately booted to the door. Don't think I can do a mint julep yet, Jr., currently drinking coffee in teeny tiny sips, need to keep it down in order to wake up. Kids are going w/ FP this weekend...I don't dare to think overnight though. Come on out if you want, we'll go to the movies!

Hi MJ...hadn't heard anything about the tenerelli family tree website, and now I know why. Hope you're feeling better.

Here's a treat for ya. Anyone look like a family member? circa 1942.

Hey, I don't look like any of those good looking people in that photo! There is a sweetness in those Tenerelli faces that does not share anything in common with our Tenerelli faces. I think we are a grumpy bunch.

Trust when I say that those Tenerelli faces looked sweet til just after this photo was taken.

Of course it was a wedding. So maybe they were happy! I'm sure that when they got home, Grampa gave at least one of them a matalutz. (ever heard that word?)

Did your grampa ever say, "I gotta go to the bacows?" (bathroom - back house?) Good times.

Yo Jr, speak for yourself! My face is very sweet, thank you very much. And you're face is sweet too...its all the rest of those Tenerelli's we're related too that are nasty old sour pusses. Remember how mama used to say nan looked like a wolf when she smiled? Better she should be a sour puss.

Tony, I never heard of a matalutz or a bacow...but then Grandpa Tenerelli was seldom allowed to speak; great grandpa Genovese didn't speak english and wore a hearing aide that he turned off whenever the grandkids were around. Thanks for sharing the cool photo by the way!

I just had two hunks of Entenmann's raisin loaf cake and some coffee. It is 2:57 AM and I give up trying to sleep, it's just not gonna happen. Sorry Sr., we have cool faces but sweet they are not. We have both lived in N.Y. for too long to look sweet. Those Tenerelli's in that photo Tony sent look untouched by the rat race, of course I could be mistaken about that, but I am betting they didn't spend their days getting cursed out by maniac's at their job. I am imagining all the delicious food they had at that wedding. I am going to google recipes from Bari.

FP, nothing beats a nice cake! Do you like ginger ale? Got that too! Jr. only has boring raisin cake so you don't want to go watch movies with her...I have baked Alaska...I do...I swear

Jr., I am going to pinch you hard when you get here, I AM SWEET DAMMIT...and so is my face.
