Missing LC

LC has gone off to the wilds of Washington D.C. and on a journey to find a new home. Jr. and I miss him terribly and this blog is just not a home without him. LC please check in and tell us how it is all going! The holidays are coming and they won't be the same without you. We propose that you come to L.I. for Thanksgiving. I am making the turkey again. Velmar and I have once again fended off Jr.'s hideous suggestions of goose and pigeon. Jr's side dishes, though, will be as heavenly as usual. Planning a sleepover bad movie Thanksgiving night, everybody squeezed into my micro apt. You come too! Segue into poem...

The Pasture

I’m going out to clean the pasture spring;
I’ll only stop to rake the leaves away
(And wait to watch the water clear, I may):
I sha’n’t be gone long.—You come too.

I’m going out to fetch the little calf
That’s standing by the mother. It’s so young,
It totters when she licks it with her tongue.
I sha’n’t be gone long.—You come too.

Sr. is sooooo conservative when it comes to the holidays!!! I might protest this Thanksgiving and have my own in Weehawken. People in the south eat swan, I am tempted to roast one myself! l am also thinking about making some innovative appetizer's with goose in them!

Perhaps you could dig up some slugs from your backyard and flambe them for an innovative appetizer, serve them on dead leaves!

LC would come to my alternative Thanksgiving celebration. You are a witch, I'd like to flambe your tongue.

We are both witches and come from a fine tradition of witches! Mama and Grandma Hamil were both witches.

My sister in law made anise (licorice) flavored mashed potatoes for Thanksgiving last year -- barf! With regular gravy, go figure! Slugs might go well with licorice flavored mashe potatoes!

Ewwwww to licorice mashed potatoes. Jr. would probably like them slathered over whole eel with swan gizzards.

Linderloo, don't make me flambe your tongue too! Anise rocks! I think had your sister in law left out the gravy and had added shaved parmesan cheese to the potatoes, they would have been yummy!!! While I do like a good eel, slugs aren't my thing. Since the two of you are saying mean things to me(and it's almost my birthday) I am going to have to wish that you both step barefoot onto a pile of slugs this summer while you are retrieving your mail.

I just had a dream that Sr. ran in the NY marathon and ran it in 25 minutes. In the dream I went to a diner while she was running and had Baked Alaska, go figure.

Go Mary Jo, AKA speed racer! I dreamed I went back to visit Binderland, and the office was in my old high school. Mary Elizabeth, Gary and I shared a glass of wine (!) and Gary got drunk. Claudia was pissed off because she is jealous of Mary Lou!

Jr., I agree that if my sister in law had spiffed up the gravy, the anise potatoes MIGHT have been passable but as she served them, they were gross! They just did not go together!

Happy almost birthday? Are you a Libra too?

No, I am a Sagittarius, my b-day is Nov. 28th. Sr. just sent my b-day present and I am not allowed to open it until Nov. 28th...blah! Why do we always dream about high school??? I have frequent high school dreams where I never really graduated because I forgot to take a class. I am glad you had a nice birthday Linderloo, did you get some nice presents?

I got an ice cream cake and some milky way bars! No sparklies though.

Does your birthday ever occur on Thanksgiving? My husband, the Oldie Machine, is a Sag too! That's why I immediately loved you Jr! Besides your exquisite taste in dogs I mean! Are you spending your birthday at Mary Sue's? She might make you some bisquick treats!

Who is LC? And where is Buddy? Where is Jaime?

Linderloo, hasn't anyone told you about Marylou's cooking?!! I think we'd do better to order out for some Thai food instead! Sometimes my birthday does fall on Thanksgiving, but I don't think it does this year. Thank you for your support Linderloo, I also have a new little doggy, he is soooooo cute, I am hoping Marylou will post his picture on her blog, I am going to send it to her right now! Oh yes, LC is our lovely bad movie night companion, Troy and I tend to do the wave whenever his name is mentioned.
