Hope is the Thing with Feathers

Everything is Plundered

Everything is Plundered
Everything is plundered, betrayed, sold,
Death's great black wing scrapes the air,
Misery gnaws to the bone.
Why then do we not despair?

By day, from the surrounding woods,
cherries blow summer into town;
at night the deep transparent skies
glitter with new galaxies.

And the miraculous comes so close
to the ruined, dirty houses -
something not known to anyone at all,
but wild in our breast for centuries.

I do despair, no hope left. If Obama doesn't win and I lose my house my worst fears will become reality. Here we go again.

Never give up hope. Where there's hope, there's life.

Did you lose your house in the past, Anonymous? Do you think Obama can save it now?

No Linderloo, I did not lose my house before, but came close to it when I was trying to unload our apartment before we couldn't pay our mortgage and home equity loan anymore. I am scared now because I feel like if the economy continues to tank and freelance work dries up we will again be faced with having to sell our new home before we lose it. I think if Obama is elected, he can begin focusing on our country and it's economy, creating more jobs, rather than going to war with yet another country. I do love our new house even if it is haunted!!! You still need to come over for mint Juleps in the garden!!

Oh Jr., that is really scary. Remember what you said earlier, and don't ever ever give up hope! What kind of free lance work do you do? Does your husband work? MJ needs a new job too!

Hello Linderloo, I think Sr. needs a new job too! I am an art handler, I help install art exhibits. My husband is an substance abuse counselor, doesn't make much money. I think Sr. should start writing children's books about her little kitty Audrey Lickin's. She would make a lot of money as Audrey is very charming and quite the diva!
