The Move Looms

Provisions

What should we have taken
with us? We never could decide
on that; or what to wear,
or at what time of
year we should make the journey

So here we are in thin
raincoats and rubber boots

On the disastrous ice, the wind rising

Nothing in our pockets

But a pencil stub, two oranges
Four Toronto streetcar tickets

and an elastic band holding a bundle
of small white filing cards
printed with important facts.

With no loving in our souls and no money in our coats
You cant say were satisfied
But angie, I still love you, baby
Evrywhere I look I see your eyes

Lord, I was born a ramblin' man
Tryin' to make a livin' and doin' the best I can
And when it's time for leavin'
I hope you'll understand
That I was born a ramblin' man

For Jr:

I've been from Holland to New Orleans
But the loveliest place I've Ever Seen
Is Bed Stuy, Bed Stuy,
My home town!
I'll never leave it,
My home town...

Thank you Fourth Person and anonymous. You are both lovely. Jr. however is racking up enough bad Karma points to spend her next life as a dung beetle!

For Sr:
My fingers are so long
They stumble like a song
Lord, I don't know which way they'll go
I'd like to move from home
But these fingers move so slow
I'd like to pick up my keys and leave
If I amputate these tramps, they'll simply grow right back
Might as well use my teeth instead.
